Stock rises with successful weekend tripleheader

Zack VanderBeek and the No. 33z Casey's General Stores Racing Team took off for the Great Northwest this past weekend in search of some good finishes and positive results to propel them through the rest of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental.

They got what they were looking for.

On Thursday, the action took place at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wis., where 'The Z-Man' survived to garner an 11th-place finish while many others in the field were not as fortunate on the wet and rough racetrack.

The series headed to the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., on Friday and things went the team's way from the time they pulled through the gate until they left later that night with a victory lane check in tow. On Saturday, the team headed a few more hours north to the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., where VanderBeek picked up a win last year during the Hunt. After struggling in a tough, stacked heat race, VanderBeek was the hard charger of the race as he roared from 16th on the grid to a fourth-place finish.

Sitting fifth in USMTS points with 7 of 15 championship events in the books, next week  the team heads to the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., on Friday, Aug. 21, and then to the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor Creek, Okla., on Saturday, Aug. 22.
