Vanderbeek repeats as Great American Stock Car Shootout winner

Vanderbeek repeats as Great American Stock Car Shootout winner

OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The second night of the 19th Annual Great Ameican Stock Car Shootout saw beautiful skies and some great racing all night long.

The final race of the night was the 25-lap feature event for the IMCA Stock Cars. Damon Murty grabbed the lead on lap 1 but it was Derrick Agee taking the lead on lap 2. Agee continued to lead until Zack Vanderbeek worked his way up to take the lead away on lap 10.

Vanderbeek began to pull away and looked as if he was going to take the easy win but then the only caution of the race came out on lap 20 when Kris Walker came to a stop in turn 4.

Vanderbeek had Murty and Agee on the back bumper for the restart and held them off, but Cayden Carter worked his way to second spot on lap 23 and battled his teammate the final two laps, but it was Vanderbeek taking his second consecutive Great American Stock Car Shootout win at Osky.

Carter and Murty were second and third, Jason Minnehan was fourth and Agee was fifth.

The McFarland Pain Clinic Hard Charger of the race was Brad Pinkerton after moving up 12 spots from 18th to sixth.
